The Fine Arts String Quartet has its origin in 1993, shortly after my graduation from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. At that time, I often played weddings for other organizations and afterwards I regularly found myself dissatisfied. Frequently the results were less than adequate, often due to lack of thorough organization and preparation. I knew there had to be a better way.
Thus was born the Fine Arts String Quartet. Since that time we have done well over a 1,000 weddings and other events. For the other members, I turned to my friends and colleagues, many of whom were also recent Rice grads. We are a close-knit group of friends who enjoy playing and working together and I think it shows in our product.
